Offering business an affordable dental insurance alternative (Tri-City Journal of Business)
A Richland dentist is giving small business owners a more affordable way to provide basic dental services for workers.
Cadwell Dental is offering a new membership plan for dental services that may save participants money without the hassle and paperwork of dealing with an insurance company.
The dental services are all taken care of in Cadwell's new, state-of-the-art 5,800 square-foot dental office at 475 Keene Road.
Josh Cadwell DDS, owner of Cadwell Dental, said the new membership plan is available to anyone, but it could be especially helpful for small business owners who are considering dropping dental insurance to reduce costs.
The standard membership costs for an adult is $19.50 per month, which includes two cleanings per year plus an exam, x-rays and two emergency visit exams during normal business hours. Members also save 15 to 74 percent on additional services like fillings, crowns, and orthodontics.
The cost for dependent children is and additional $12.50 per month.
Cadwell said the membership has been available for employees at Cadwell Laboratories, a business owned by his father, for more than a year.
"We are in the process of doing contracts with about two dozen others," Cadwell said.
The membership can also be used to augment other dental insurance, he added, giving patients more options and more savings.
"For those who already have a dental insurance program, this may help extend the coverage of the dental insurance while giving the freedom ot choose the dentist," Cadwell said.
Insurance reimbursement checks can be sent directly to the patient or to Cadwell Dental, to apply to future services.
Cadwell said patients can request rebates of the unused amount at the end of the year or roll them over to the next year to use.
Those who need more intensive dental care can opt for a periodontal membership, which cost from $414 annually for three visits to $630 for five visits -- or $52.50 per month.
Cadwell also offers complimentary seminars and training for administrative staff of businesses that enroll or would like to enroll in Cadwell's Dental Corporate Membership program.
"We offer the seminars to make our program easy to understand and easy to administer," Cadwell said.
